D.C.'s Southwest waterfront has had a mixed development history. Prior to the early 1950s, much of the area was occupied by freestanding commercial establishments, dilapidated warehouses, railroad yards, and wooden building piers in varying stages of disrepair. The SW Waterfront Park revitalizes a parking lot for the benefit of the community. Formed through organic mathematical equations, the park offers a cafe, information kiosk, bike storage, and multiple recreational spaces.
